A cache (pronounced cash) is a place to store something temporarily. When a web page is brought up in a browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape, the information from the page is placed into a cache directory on the users computer. This way, when the user returns to the page, the browser can pull information from the cache file saving the time that it takes to download the page.
Note: The cache file in Microsoft Internet Explorer is called Temporary Internet Files. |
