Top Ten Real Estate Business Resolutions for 2007

Ten Tips Your Bank Account Can't Afford to Begin the New Year Without

With the start of a new year just around the corner, it's the perfect time to set some business resolutions to accomplish in 2007. By setting a few simple goals for yourself, you can increase your success in the upcoming year.

  1. Keep your advertising budget in check. Allocate an amount that will get the job done and follow a comprehensive marketing plan and stick to it! By staying within your budget, you can maximize your profit.
  2. Initiate a highly targeted marketing campaign. Target your marketing to reach a broad spectrum of demographic groups by choosing to advertise in publications such as Harmon Homes that integrate print and Internet, combining the traditional and the technological. You'll be making the most of your marketing dollars because you're paying to advertise to the right peoplethose in the market to buy or sell!
  3. Keep up with the latest technology. This is two-fold: 1.) By keeping yourself up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies, you will be one step ahead of your competition. 2.) Set aside a time, perhaps once a month, to check out what your competition is offering and explore what technologies or developments may have been introduced since you last checked.
  4. Maintain and grow existing relationships. Don't hop from vendor to vendor. Remember, mistakes happen, but can always be fixed! Try to evaluate all aspects of a situation before making rash decisions about breaking a bond with a current service provider.
  5. Create an ideal customer profile. Evaluate your client base and determine which types of consumers you can best be of service to. Those will likely be the most profitable clients! Use these criteria in the future for determining which customers you should work with and who you should refer on.
  6. Remain consistent. Find a style that generates leads and stick with it! Constantly changing your look can be confusing to buyers and sellers. However, a consistent look will make you more memorable in consumers' minds and perhaps shift their perception of you from "advertiser" to "acquaintance". It's not necessary to change your look often because the market itself is always changing. You'll constantly have a new audience, so your look is always fresh to them!
  7. Have confidence and GET YOUR NAME out there! Promote yourself and your business to make your name known! New agents: expand your comfort zone! The more confidence and comfort you exude about yourself and your business, the more likely buyers and sellers are to view you as an industry expert and choose you as their realtor!
  8. Be adventurous. Don't be afraid to try unconventional or unusual sources for education. Explore new options and different sources that you might not have considered before. You never know where your next best idea will come from!
  9. Show customer appreciation! Remind your customers how much you value their business and how much you'd like to serve them again in the future. Brainstorm unique occasions to communicate with past customers. For example, send out a postcard on Groundhog Day saying, "You've been thinking about selling your house all winter, now that the groundhog has made his appearance, your listing should too!" Your creativity will catch customers by surprise and make you stand out from your competition!
  10. Enjoy your success! Where's the fun in work, work, work if there's no time for play? Relax. Enjoy your accomplishments! The more you savor your success, the more success you'll have to savor!
